Euro 2016 Poem

Euro 2016 kicked off at the Stade de France,
As Romania played the host nation,
Where we witnessed a Dimitri Payet wonder-goal,
Which deserved a standing ovation.

At the start of the tournament,
We saw plenty of fan trouble,
From England, France and Russia hooligans,
Who littered the streets with a pile of rubble.

We saw many last minute goals,
But most group stage matches were dire,
Although that didn’t stop Northern Irish fans,
Who were chanting “Will Grigg’s On Fire”.

Iceland fans showed us the ‘thunderclap’,
Which also went internet viral,
Whilst people were left confused,
As to how Portugal won the final.

After picking up five points in Group C,
England’s campaign looked bleak,
And when we crumbled against Iceland,
We left Europe twice in one week.

We also saw some great footballing moments,
Including Boateng’s acrobatic save,
While Zaza’s penalty miss against Germany,
Will haunt him forever to his grave.

Eden Hazard was also back to his best,
And Fellaini dyed his ‘fro,
But the real fairy-tale of Euro 2016,
Was Wales who stole the show.
